    President's Letter

    Greetings SMPS’rs!

Wow what a ride so far. Who would have thought the landscape would be so different when we began 2020.  June 1st marks a time when many of us will be bringing everyone “back into the office” and moving away from telework.  When I reflect on the last two to three months one word certainly rises to the top. That word is “adapt”.

As Marketers and BDOs we have certainly had to adapt.  Traditional marketing efforts have gone to the wayside as firms have had to rely more and more on alternative means of communicating their brand and service.

When looking at it through the lens of SMPS-KY, adapting has been quite the journey. We pride ourselves on providing the best professional development opportunities in the country. SMPS-KY puts a great deal of emphasis on programing both in person and online.

So, what did we do when we could not meet face to face? We adapted. Our Education Committee worked with our Programs Committee to bring quality programing online which resulted in the highly popular series by RedFox Media. The 7-part series “Boost Your Content with Video Marketing” has not only been a hit with our membership but with SMPS members from across the country. Chapters around the United States have opened their programing for free to members in other states and it has been fantastic.

According to a poll by the Association of National Advertisers, since the World Health Organization assigned Coronavirus as a pandemic in mid-March:

    • 92% of enterprises had adjusted their marketing creative.
    • 46% agreed these changes had been “substantial”.
    • 42% had implemented “moderate” alterations.
    • 12% suggested any updates were “minimal”.

Now more than ever in the A/E/C industry it is critical we adapt our thinking, our strategies, our general way of doing business when it comes to marketing. You have heard me say it over and over, the firms that are leveraging the latest trends and techniques in marketing and relationship development are the ones who are standing head and shoulders above the rest.

SMPS-KY will always be there to help you achieve your goals both for yourself and your firm. When we can’t do it the traditional way we will adapt and find new ways. Thank you for remaining faithful in membership. We look forward to the day we can meet in person again. In the meantime, stay with us in our online delivery.

If you ever need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.

    Lance Allison, President

The Team at Lynn Imaging / Monster Color was able to produce and donate life-saving PPE Face Shields for Sayre Christian Village. Staff at long-term care facilities often do not have the same access to PPE as healthcare workers in hospitals, yet they protect the most vulnerable to COVID-19.

Lynn Imaging / Monster Color was inspired by SCV staff and their mission to provide hope, housing, and healthcare to 375 residents on campus. Monster Color had a limited supply of materials, but was determined to donate their first 100 face shields ever produced on-site to SCV's staff.
